Spalding Samaritans | Uplifting our neighbors through essential support
Who we are:
Spalding Samaritans is an all-volunteer, faith-based 501(C)(3) local non-profit organization established in 2003 providing emergency utility bill assistance, educational and referral services to the Spalding County community. We are not a governmental agency, and are financed entirely through the generosity of local churches, organizations and caring individuals.
What we do:
Spalding Samaritans exists to help local individuals and families in financial crisis keep their utilities from being disconnected. We accept applications for assistance in paying for essential services – Electricity, Water & Sewer, Natural Gas and Propane. We do not provide assistance for telephone, internet or cable tv.
When to apply:
Our intake for applications is held the first and third Tuesdays of every month. Hours of operation are from 12:30 until 2 pm. You must be a resident of Spalding County, bring with you photo ID, and the bill for which you are seeking assistance. If you get your bill online, you’ll need to log in to your billing page during intake so we can access your account information.
Where to apply:
We meet in the Community room of the Southside Medical Center / Hope Health Clinic, located on North 10th Street, between West Solomon Street and West Slaton Avenue. We’re next door to the Five Loaves Two Fish Food Pantry on the Slaton Avenue side of the building.
Additional information:
In the interest of fairness, it must be at least 13 months since you have received assistance before you can apply again. Oftentimes we are not able to pay your whole bill, but can pay a portion of the bill presented. All payments will be made directly to the utility company on the bill provided.
